In June of 2020, I saw Dr. Kerr in Seattle for chronic pain caused by disc damage and deterioration at multiple levels in both my cervical and lumbar spinal areas from an accident. Dr. Kerr came highly recommended from his years of experience working with trauma patients in Afghanistan, and in Alaska and Washington State. He was super nice, knowledgeable, and his words were comforting as we looked at my X-rays and MRIs and he explained in detail the two spine surgeries I needed to get back to the healthy, active lifestyle I’d enjoyed before my accident. He instilled the confidence I needed to move forward. In Sept 2020 he performed a multilevel ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) that resolved the pain in my upper back and in January 2021, with severe sciatica extending down both my legs, he proceeded with the surgery on my lower back, performing the Multi-level Lumbar Spinal Fusion surgery on L4, L5, and S1, resolving my sciatic and lower back pain! Thank you, Dr. Kerr!!

After getting tripped up on uneven pavement, I found myself with a smashed kneecap (comminuted patellar fracture). Dr. Stewart Kerr & the OSS team did an excellent surgical repair of my knee with competence & compassion. Although I have an 8 week convalescence, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel after just 2 weeks. That tunnel does not seem as dark nor as long with Dr. Kerr in my corner :)

I sought a second opinion with Dr. Kerr after suffering with severe sciatica due to a herniated disc for almost a year. Dr. Kerr's thorough analysis of my condition coupled with his successful background (and MANY high reviews) was a sure sign he was the right surgeon for me. Little did I know, that was just the tip of the iceberg. His bedside manner is like none other I have experienced. Confident, compassionate, thoughtful and responsive. I never once doubted he had my absolute best interest in mind - and hands-down the most accessible doctor I have known. After almost of year of Urgent Care, Emergency Room visits and a handful of various specialist the plan of action and surgical procedure Dr. Kerr recommended and provided has me 100% free of the excruciating sciatic pain I was in. I recommend Dr. Kerr without hesitation and am beyond grateful to have received his care and expertise.

I am happy to recommend Dr. Kerr's services! He is very compassionate and professional and works with you to get the appropriate treatment as soon as possible. He was a strong advocate for me when negotiating with insurance and was always responsive when I had questions or needed clarification. I was in horrible pain due to an advanced case of spinal stenosis, losing use of my left arm, and proceeded with tri-level ACDF surgery based on recommendation by Dr. Kerr. His advise was validated by multiple providers (internal medicine, occupational therapy, etc.), and I was able to go through with this difficult procedure and recovery with confidence that it was necessary. I am about 6-7 weeks out now and the operation has been a complete success thus far: the pains are gone, I am regaining functionality through physical therapy, and am healing on schedule! Excellent job by Dr. Kerr and Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle. Cheers!

I suffered muscle spasms, searing nerve pain, and nearly 90% immobility of my left hand. I had 3 acupuncture treatments, 1 Urgent Care consult, and 2 exams at ERs without relief. I was told to see a spine surgeon. Online research of Anchorage spine doctors led me to Dr. Kerr. I appreciated his tremendously varied places of study and practice, and, his conservative approach to surgery. On a Friday morning my primary doctor referred me to Dr. Kerr and at 2pm that same day I had my first consult. How do I now spell relief? K.e.r.r. Dr. Kerr didn't patronize. He studied images, suggested home exercises, 3 prescriptions, and a follow-up. Sixteen days later I am virtually pain free and my hand has nearly fully recovered. Yea Dr. Kerr!

Dr. Kerr took his time to figure out what was wrong, as I had an atypical presentation of symptoms. He ultimately performed a complicated surgery which has led to a very successful outcome for me.

I was referred to ORCA for bi-carpal tunnel and what a blessing. Dr. Kerr welcomes me from the start and listens to my systems and concerns. Right away he acknowledges my bi-carpal tunnel which was expected however, during the diagnoses he knew I had a bigger issue with my neck. His experience as an Orthopedic Surgeon was right on. For many years I had severe pain in my shoulders, arms and hands and seen many physicians with no luck. So, with this being said, he assures me he will take care of me and resolve all my issues. He is a man of his word. He took care of my left carpal tunnel due to it was more severe than my right. During and after recovery he then turn his main focus on my compress C-spine (neck) and performed a neck surgery (fusion) which I'm still in the recovery phase but, what a world of difference it made. Thanks Dr. Kerr and his staff for making my life more bearable. So, I’m asked if I would see Dr. Kerr again or would recommend him for other patience’s. ****YES****

I was handled with compassion and kindness from the very first appointment through the end of my surgery by every single member of the ORCA staff. Dr. Kerr, and his team, especially Peter his P.A. took exceptional care of me and I can extend the same praise to the staff at Regional Hospital - Ortho/Spine Unit. After half a year of excruciating pain, with multiple conservative treatments having failed, Dr. Kerr was able to assess and diagnose the issue and for the first time in months made me feel confident in the direction of my treatment plan. I can't thank him enough for not only the surgery that saved me from permanent paralysis in my leg, but for his care and kindness that made me feel human again. When he shakes your hand, looks into your eyes, and says "I'll take good care of you" he means it, and that's exactly what he and his team did.

The office staff and PA are all very accommodating and quickly process you through to the doctor. Dr. Kerr addressed my issues and listened to my concerns FULLY. It is the 3rd doctor I have seen and he fully explained everything very carefully. I left his office with some positive feelings and a sense there will be a solution to my issues. He is up to date in his medical knowledge and strives to take the time with his patients. I highly recommend him and his services to anyone that is searching top medical care.

I was most pleased with my experience. Dr. Kerr treats his patients like family. He listens to you and shares different options, not always just physical therapy or just surgery. He cares, really cares and it shows.

Dr Kerr has taken very good care of me and my injured back. I am about two weeks out of surgery and am feeling much better. Dr Kerr, sits down with you and has a conversation about how you can work with him and his team to manage your health issues. He is very kind, compassionate and gentle. I met Dr. Kerr in October of 2017, I had inured myself on my job and was in a terrible amount of pain. After my very first appointment with Dr. Kerr , I was impressed by the way he immediately put me at ease, with his knowledge of his profession, an Orthopedic spine specialist. He is extremely detail oriented, caring, and professional. After surgery he takes the time to check on you, he truly cares for his patients'. I Thanked Dr. Kerr for moving to Alaska! And would recommend him to others.

Thank You Lord! I am so grateful to God for this caring, kind, & compassionate doctor. After an emergency room visit in January 2018, I followed up with Dr. Kerr, he gave an honest assessment; answering all my questions. Later in January I was denied access to the bus via ramp twice, causing severe injury, making sugery necessary. Dr. Kerr performed the surgery with great success. Now December 2018 Dr. Kerr goes above & beyond again. I recommend Dr. Kerr to those for whom only the best will do!

Though I don't remember my first encounter, I met Dr Kerr in the ER after being struck head-on by pickup truck while on a motorcycle. I have been an ICU and ER nurse for 21 years, but never expected to be on the receiving end of the work I do. In my opinion, he has proved himself an excellent trauma surgeon, not only saving my life but he has a resolve to get me back to my prior level of function. His staff is professional, courteous, and pleasant. I would highly recommend ORCA clinic

I was in an accident involving a moose, myself & my motorcycle. As one would guess is was not to my favor. Dr. Kerr in my opinion went above and beyond what is expected. While inbetween surgeries (I had three) he personally would visit me, dress my wounds & personally address any needs 2 to 3 times a day. These are normally handled by the general hospital staff. These extra efforts from a orthopedic surgeon only refortify your confidence and ability to heal. The office staff is 1st Rate!

Dr. Kerr is a very down to earth doctor. He’s compassionate, very detail oriented and thorough. I’ve seen him twice in two different environments and both were on almost the opposite spectrums. I had been needing an MRI for 8 months, asking 3 other docs to order it. Only after seeing Dr Kerr the second time, I finally get my MRI next week! I am SO thankful that Dr Kerr is at his new office and that HE did what HE said HE would!

I was very pleased with the professionalism and friendliness Dr Kerr provided during my stay at Alaska Regional Hospital. I have very positive expectations of my post surgery recovery. I have not yet visited Dr. Kerr's office, but I'm confident my needs will be met.

I've never had any kind of surgery before so obviously I was nervous at the prospect of back surgery, but the way Dr.Kerr showed and explained the procedure to me eased my nerves about it and actually had me looking forward to it and now after the fact I am very grateful to him for that. He took my fear and my pain away and has given me back my quality of life. No regrets!

Dr.Kerr is dedicated and passionate about helping people. My husband and I were visiting Alaska when tragedy hit. A slip and fall on a glacier turned into a complex tibia and fibula fracture with an added bonus of compartment syndrome. Coming from a healthcare background I wanted the best care possible for my husband. I couldn't have asked for a better doc then Dr.Kerr. Dr.Kerr always made sure that we knew exactly what the plan was and what to expect down the road. I Highly recommend Dr.Kerr!

Not much I can add to what other posters have said, Dr. Kerr and all the staff at his office are amazing. I felt immediately, at ease with him his clear communication and bed side manor are the best I have ever encountered. He answered all my questions, he answered all my wife's questions. He laid out what he recommends and listed other options. He, came in on surgery day and had his game face on so i knew I was in good hands. He came to see me in the Hospital the next day to check on me.

Dr. Kerr is one of the most caring and compassionate Dr.'s I've ever come across. He took care of a knee problem I had for almost 2 years. He has also treated CRPS, which I have. Haven't found anyone in Anchorage that even knows what or how to treat it. I will definitely follow him wherever he goes.

I had a accident that resulted in a pretty severe break to both my tib and fib on Mother’s Day. Dr Kerr was the physician on call, to my many blessings. He attended to me immediately and continued to provide reassurance to my husband and myself before and after surgery. Dr Kerr is by far the best ortho MD. He goes above and beyond for his patients. His attentiveness and bedside manner exceeds excellence. Highly recommend him for your care.

Dr. Kerr not only made me feel confident and comfortable about my surgery, he instilled the same in my family and friends. He takes the time to talk through procedures, follow up and recommendations. Though I never want this to happen again I would seek out Dr. Kerr if I needed treatment.

Dr. Kerr is absolutely the best. We are vacationing here from Georgia and my daughter broke her arm unfortunately. He was cool and calm in the ER and was able to soothe my daughter in a matter of seconds. He was quick to get her into surgery and down time was a breeze. We stuck with him as her follow up doctor, and we couldn't have been more proud to do so! He is very thorough in his decisions and has a heart of gold! My daughter made a wonderful recovery! Absolutely excellent doctor to have!

I was referred to Dr. Kerr for wound care. Dr. Kerr immediately put me at ease, assuring me that my small wound was healing appropriately. He spent time answering my questions and providing clear instructions for home care. I never felt like my wound was unimportant. Dr. Kerr never gave the impression that he had more important patients awaiting his attention which I am sure he did (my wound was small). During my office visit, I had his full attention. This doctor cares for his patients.

I found Dr. Kerr t be very honest about the procedure i was looking to have. He not only went over what could benefit from the procedure but also what could not be of benefit. His un-hurried, genuine care of what the issue was made me feel very comfortable with him. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs knee or orthopedic work performed!

After a very scary, very painful day spent in the Providence ER last Monday, an angel walked into my treatment room. Dr. Kerr was kind, caring and compassionate. He explained that my knee was septic and I needed an arthroscopic washout. I’ve had many surgeries in my life but I have never had a surgeon that made me feel that he truly cared about me. I had such confidence in him and I went into surgery without fear. I’m looking forward to him helping me with all my chronic orthopedic issues!

I went to Dr Kerr after a visit to the ER with a torn meniscus and locked knee. With his 20+ years as a military medic, he immediately assessed the situation and recommended I have fluid drained from the knee area to allow more movement. Although that procedure was painful, I got immediate relief and was able to bend my knee. This allowed way less pain as I waited for surgery over the weekend. Dr. Kerr was very personable, attentive, and considerate. I hightly recommend him.

i consider Dr. Kerr a miracle worker. The pain in my back and numbness in my leg made it almost impossible to walk. After a few consults with him I had back surgery. When I left the hospital I had no pain except the healing process. I have been able to return to my activities. He is a very caring and concerned doctor. It would be awful if he left. Please do all you can to keep him in the valley.

TEN+ STARS!! Dr. Kerr gave me my life back.He performed a 4 1/2 hr cervical surgery, both anterior and posterior with plate/rods and bone grafts. A few months later he performed another 4 hr surgery on my lumbar spine with a fusion and grafting, etc. I trusted Dr. Kerr with my life, & he didn't disappoint. He is very caring and professional and takes your pain and complaints seriously. If he can put our soldiers back to together, he's the surgeon for me. God Bless this man and his hands.

I suddenly developed serious leg pain and drop foot. My primary physician referred me to Dr. Kerr who quickly identified my problem and laid out a course of treatment that involved surgery. It has been one year since Dr. Kerr performed two back surgeries to correct my back issues. The results are that I am in no pain and my life and activities are back to normal. I feared having back surgery but Dr. Kerr did an incredible job. I would recommend him to anyone having back issues.

Dr Kerr respected my 90yo mother's request for back surgery to improve her mobility and reduce her pain. After cardiology okay, he did a very extensive surgery of decompression L spine up to L2 and basically bolted a section together. I had spine and sciatica pain for 5 years. I lived in Houston and went to several doctors. Every one of the doctors wanted to do a procedure that my insurance would not cover. I moved to WA to take care of my Dad. My doctor here, Dr. Weston (wonderful) recommended Dr. Kerr. Dr. Kerr performed the surgery and I walked out without pain the next day!!! I will always be thankful for Dr. Kerr!!! AND ... my insurance covered his procedure :o) I would give him 10 stars!!! Thank you, again!
